I am flying into Portland and interested in sharing a ride to and from the Convention. I presently plan on getting a rental car but if you have a car and are seeking a rider to help defray the cost, I would be interested in that, too. I will arrive in Portland on Thursday around noon and will depart from there on Sunday around 5:30 PM. If you're interested, please email or call.

"I'm getting several needed medical procedures during the conference and can't attend. One of them will coincidentally be a mesh implant that directly relates to ECC principles and function. A rather inert plastic mesh is placed within muscle tissues to reconnect separated muscle striations. In a short time new tissue is deposited throughout, cementing the mesh with muscle, making for an integrated, supple, and very strong repair good for 50+ years. No wonder I'm toying with EBCs, Engineered Bionic Composites for construction. 'Walls That Live.' On incarnation of this idea exists in illuminating walls that change colors according to temperature. Why not embed more functions in ECC? How about 'visualizer walls'? Or one's that subtly produce negative ions? Or heat? Or oxygen? Or scent? Or textural changes? I don't know about you, but there are times when I want a soft furry wall to accompany a glowing fire and a glass of wine. It would soften the acoustics too. How about self cleaning walls? There is no end to this line of thought. It's like so many other things you didn't know you needed until you had it. Look at the fax and computer or sliced bread. It is a natural progression from today's ECCs."

"Back to planet earth for a moment, I will send a DVD to share with the group. On it there is an entertaining segment of Discovery Channel's Christopher Lowell's Interior Designs featuring 4 minutes of my water features. Their film crew did a nice job. On that DVD is also a 3 minute segment on our 'natural' pool done by CBS News locally here in LA. I remember the landscaping wasn't done yet. Perhaps I can find documentary footage taken during the public tours I give done by 3 different environmental documentary film crews, one from Japan. I'll make some calls but as they may be hard to procure. The 8 minute on the DVD relate to FC/ECC as a component of a larger environmental picture, and is inspirational support for those wanting to accomplish a nicer and more personal environment at the home. The cameras actually pan across our ECC artificial rocks, but they weren't the focus in these shows. Although you are looking straight at them briefly they are indistinguishable from the real rocks and boulders they are ensconced among. Try and spot 'em! Spotting the fakes is a game we play here on the tours. I'll send the answers with the DVDs somehow. There is only one giveaway to detect them currently."
